Rainbows Weekend
Rainbows Weekend is held in the Retreat Centre at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery from the evening of the Friday to the Monday afternoon, May bank holiday weekend. The theme for the year is introduced and explored. This is also when we start to produce material for Rainbows, the magazine (now mostly online) used to reflect the exploration of the theme over the year. Rainbows and the other materials on the website aim to convey the spirit of the teachings informally to children and adults of all ages.
The weekend is a mixture of formal and informal Buddhist practice, creative writing, artwork and social interaction. Cooking, cleaning and other duties are shared. While there is no lower age limit, children too young to contribute independently will need to be supervised by parents. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a crèche at this event.
The timetable below gives you a peek into the day to day running of the weekend.
